Ace Your Next Job Interview

I love Volleyball. It's one of my favorite sports, and the other day I was thinking about how the interview process is similar to Volleyball. In order to ace a volleyball tournament, there are a few things you must do to prepare. Well, the same rule applies to preparing for your next job interview. In this post, learn how to ace your interview using these four tips to land a position in the eye care industry.

1. Practice, Practice, Practice
When preparing for a volleyball tournament, practice is key if you want to win. You can’t expect to win if you don’t practice. The same rule applies when preparing for an interview. Start by researching the company because you know they are going to ask you – what do you know about the company? Once you master common interview questions, you can conduct mock interviews with friends. Going into the interview after you have prepared over and over is only one way to help you ace the interview.

2. Get Ready
Just as you would get ready for a championship game, it helps before a big interview to apply methods that are suitable for you. You could listen to music, meditate, or anything to help you focus. Mentally preparing your mind will allow you to walk into an interview more confident than ever which is what employers like to see.

3. Get Some Rest
Make sure you get a good amount of sleep. If you are tired, it could impact your performance just as it would on the court.

4. Show Them What You Got
It’s finally game time! Make sure you arrive five to ten minutes early. Before you walk into the interview, just remember to be yourself and show them who you are. If you show them you are confident, it will make you feel less anxious. Now that you have learned some ways to ace your interview, you can start practicing right away. You may not win at all of them, but never give up! If you are unable to land a job, don’t be afraid to ask for feedback. With practice, preparation, sleep, and self-confidence, you have the power to win.
