Think About Your Eyes – National Campaign Continues to Grow Eye Exams

Think About Your Eyes launched nationally in July 2013 with a simple goal:  educate the public about the benefits of vision health and the importance of an annual comprehensive eye exam. With the endorsement of the American Optometric Association (AOA), this national advertising campaign continues to motivate consumers in 2014 through national cable television, network radio, print advertising (Sports Illustrated, People, Parents, Shape and more), online video, online radio (Pandora), public relations, and social media.  In 2014, Think About Your Eyes will reach over 120 million consumers, and 95% of adults 25-49 will see the advertising. 

Since launch and through Q2 2014, eye exams have been grown by 4.5% overall and it is expected that we will reach over 5% growth by the end of the year.  Plus, over 1,000,000 visitors have gone to the website and doctor locator.  Think About Your Eyes is working and changing public behavior around vision health.

In addition to the consumer impact, support for Think About Your Eyes continues to grow within the eyecare industry.  To date, fifteen industry partners have joined, including fourteen at the Leadership Level:  National Vision, Inc. (NVI), SpecialEyes, Walman Optical, Transitions, Gunnar Optiks, Spy Optic, Fatheadz, Chemistrie Eyewear, Eschenbach, All About Vision, The Vision Council, Essilor, Luxottica and the American Optometric Association.   Others are in discussions about joining, and more will be needed to sustain and expand this industry changing initiative.

Individual eyecare providers also continue demonstrate their support through annual memberships that includes a listing on the doctor locator. More than 5,000 providers, from all areas of eyecare, have become members with more signing on every day.  Eyecare providers that still have not become members can go to www.thinkaboutyoureyes.com/enroll and join in less than five minutes.

Finally in 2014, Vision Expo and Think About Your Eyes, entered into a partnership to further elevate the awareness of this industry-wide initiative.  For Think About Your Eyes members, this partnership enables them to enjoy benefits at Vision Expo East including free exhibit hall registration ($75) and a 10% discount on continuing education.
